Washington Day One

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

A nice most-of-the-day trip to Seattle, hitting Pike Place Market (lunch at The Athenian, where I last dined about 11 years ago) and the Seattle Underground tour. I could spend a whole week at the market; always loved it and made it a point to visit every time I came to the city — which used to be at least once a month when I worked at Philips a decade ago.

Finished the evening with the discovery of a couple of free first-person shooter games (AssaultCube and Alien Arena) that were surprisingly good quality. Last game of choice was a cool artillery game called Pocket Tanks. Have to get a copy.

LGBT Web Designers

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Why is it that on every one of my recent ramblings about web design, Google decides that the most appropriate ads should be for upcoming Alaska Airlines LGBT events?

Makes me wonder what keywords Alaska Air is buying.

Sleepy Pocket Dogs

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

Wow. This has been a week of completely crappy sleep. And for me, that’s saying something. The worst part is this head thing that I’ve got. Gonna do wonders on the plane tonight, I’m sure. At least it’s a quick two-hour flight.

No point in trying to load up the GPS since someone used up most of my geocaching pocket queries for the Seattle area, but didn’t copy me on them. No data to load!

Picked up a stray dog from our neighborhood this morning; looked like a miniature Doberman. Well, not so much picked up, but I finally corralled it into the house after it was wandering around shaking and scared for some time. Stupid me, I forgot to snap a photo of it for prosperity. With no owner in sight and it not being a dog I recognize from the neighborhood, it’s off to the humane society.

Here Comes the Rain

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

3:20 am.

Always fun to be woken by the sound of rain — especially knowing that you had no idea it was going to rain in the first place and you have no windows in your Jeep.

Half an hour later, here I sit.

Drenched.

Not so Busy Evening

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

Two bowls of chili and a couple of orange Milano cookies. Smith and Jones (Doctor Who), followed by two episodes of EastEnders, with a short 15 minutes of treadmill in there somewhere until my foot started hurting. Now it’s almost 10:00 and the evening is shot. Where does time go? Nothing in the long list of things to do was done; I only have tomorrow night to do anything before I head out for an extended weekend to Seattle. Even then, tomorrow night will find me packing and preparing GPS and sundries. Still have to buy my ticket to the Exotic Erotic Ball (or is that Erotic Exotic Ball?) and borrow a flash from a coworker so I can take it to the ball.
